Bourbon Barbecue Sauce – a thick, smoky, semi-sweet and spicy barbecue sauce featuring your favorite Bourbon; it’s just what your grilling menu needs this summer!
- ¼ cup bourbon
- ½ cup ketchup
- 2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1/3 cup honey
- ¼ cup brown sugar, tightly packed
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic power
- 2 teaspoons hot sauce
- 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Salt to taste
- Whisk together all ingredients in a wide saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer. Whisk occasionally and continue to simmer for 30 minutes (longer if desired for thickness); sauce will thicken, and continue to thicken once it cools.
If you want it to thicken more, be sure to use a shallow pan so the liquid is spread out and can evaporate faster.
