Make the perfect popcorn every time with this tried and true stovetop method. In just 5 minutes you'll have a bowl of hot, buttery, crunchy popcorn!
Homemade Stovetop Popcorn
butter (for topping)
oil of choice
Add 3 tablespoons oil to a large stockpot or Dutch oven (coconut oil gives the most movie-theater-like popcorn!).
Add three popcorn kernels to the oil over high heat, and wait for them to pop.
Once the three kernels pop, you know the oil is hot enough to add the remaining kernels.
Immediately pour in 1/2 cup popcorn kernels.
Once the kernels have been added, remove the pan from the heat and gently shake side to side for 20 seconds.
Allow the kernels to pop, cracking the lid to allow steam to escape after about 30-60 seconds.
Once the kernels have stopped popping, immediately remove the pan from heat.
Pour the popcorn into a large serving bowl.
Pour on butter, sprinkle salt, and toss to coat.
