Can I make the batter ahead of time?

Yes! The hot buttered rum batter (the mix of butter, spices, and vanilla) can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge until ready to enjoy!

INGREDIENTS

- butter - brown sugar - cinnamon - nutmegĀ  - cloves - vanilla extract - dark rum - hot water

Place room temperature butter, spices, vanilla, and brown sugar in a mixing bowl.

Beat with an electric mixer until fully combined.

Add 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture to a mug.

Add 2 ounces of dark rum.

Add hot water - not quite boiling!

Stir until fully combined.

Garnish with cinnamon sticks as desired - or top with whipped cream!
