FORK IN THE KITCHEN

THE BEST VEGETARIAN STUFFING

everyone loves it!

This traditional version of stuffing will satisfy all appetites! This herb-filled stuffing is irresistible with its crispy bits and flavor throughout, it’s truly the BEST!

Is it Stuffing or Dressing?

Stuffing is called stuffing because it’s stuffed into the turkey to bake.  Dressing, on the other hand, is not stuffed in a turkey and rather is baked in a baking dish. This is technically dressing, but tomato, tomato.

INGREDIENTS

- Crusty Bread - butter - yellow onion - celery - sage - thyme - Egg - Vegetable Stock

PREPARATION

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish with butter.

Day-Old Bread

It’s important that the bread you’re using is stale - or a day-old and dried out.  Using day-old bread means its dried out, allowing it to soak up the flavors and vegetable stock we’re using.

1

Sauté onion and celery in butter. Stir in fresh sage and thyme. Add kale for more veggies if desired.

2

Combine the bread pieces with the vegetable mixture.

3

Stir in whisked eggs and vegetable stock until moist, but not overly wet.

4

Transfer to the prepared pan and bake, covered for the first half, and uncovered for the last half.

5

And enjoy with gravy or as is!
