FIG COMPOTE AND GOAT CHEESE CROSTINI

FORK IN THE KITCHEN

Sweet and savory fig compote is easy to make, and it gets slathered on top of crostini slice with goat cheese and bacon for meat-eaters! The perfect appetizer!

Gather the ingredients and dice the dried figs.

In a medium saucepan, combine water, red wine, thyme, lemon zest, sugar, and cinnamon.

Bring to a boil

Add the figs, and continue to simmer for 30 minutes.

Simmer until thick, then remove from heat.

Bake the crostini until crisp, then let cool for assembly.

Spread room temperature goat cheese on top of each crostini.

If using bacon, place on top of crostini.

Top with fig compote and garnishes.

Serve, and enjoy! Excellent as a hearty appetizer with a glass of red wine.
