5-MINUTE HOMEMADE STOVETOP POPCORN

This is a tried and true method for making perfectly crunchy, buttery, and salty stovetop popcorn in less than 5 minutes with just a few simple ingredients!

INGREDIENTS

- Popcorn Kernels - Oil of Choice - Butter and salt, for           topping (as desired)

What is the best oil for homemade popcorn?

The most important thing to note when choosing an oil to pop your popcorn is one that is able to withstand high heat.  I’ve tried them all, and while most any kind of cooking oil will do, there is one that stands out above the rest: coconut oil.

1

Pour oil into a large heavy-bottomed stockpot or Dutch oven.

2

Add 3 popcorn kernels over high heat. Cover, and wait for them to pop.

3

Once the kernels have popped, it's a signal that the oil is hot enough and the popcorn will pop evenly.

4

Immediately add the popcorn kernels to the pan.

5

Immediately cover and remove from heat, swooshing back and forth for 20 seconds.

6

Return back to the heat, and allow the popcorn kernels to pop away!

7

Once the pan is about 3/4ths full, crack the lid to allow steam to escape.

8

Pour the popcorn into a large serving bowl.

9

Toss with melted butter and salt, as desired.

10

And enjoy!
